You are probably here wondering how damage is calculated in Axie.
You saw the damage in your enemy’s card Sinister Strike to be 130, but it dealt 179 to your Plant.
One thing’s for sure, there is calculation to all these.
1. RPS Mechanics
There are 9 different classes of Axies grouped into 3.
Each class have disadvantages and advantages against other class groups.
Just like in Rock Paper Scissors game where:
Rock < Paper
Paper < Scissors
Scissors < Rock
In Axie, the class that has the advantage will deal +15% damage while the class that has the disadvantage will deal -15% damage.
If a card is thrown at its same class group, it will not have bonus or minus damage from RPS.
Note that the plus or minus of damage is based on the class of CARD you use and NOT on the class of an axie that card is equipped into.
Playing Axie, you would have already seen that an axie can have a body part or card from different class.
Bug card will deal additional damage to Plant, Reptile, and Dusk axie.
Beast card will deal additional damage to Plant, Reptile, and Dusk axie.
Bird card will deal additional damage to Beast, Bug, and Mech axie.
Aqua card will deal additional damage to Beast, Bug, and Mech axie.
Plant card will deal additional damage to Aqua, Bird, and Dawn axie.
Reptile card will deal additional damage to Aqua, Bird, and Dawn axie.
2. Combo Bonus Damage
When you play 2 or more cards on a single axie, you get additional damage from combo. This additional damage depends on the SKILL stats of that axie. You must use this formula to compute the combo bonus damage:
Card damage x (skill x 0.55 – 12.5) / 100 = combo bonus damage
A Bug with 35 skill plays Scarab Curse comboed with another card;
Axie rounds it down so Scarab Curse will only deal additional 7 damage.
Maybe you are wondering how the scarab dealt 148 damage.
As mentioned in RPS mechanics, a bug card will deal +15% damage to plant/dusk/reptile target.
But there is still 15 missing?
Same class bonus damage is also present as Scarab is used by a BUG axie.
3. Same Class Bonus Damage
This bonus damage will proc if the card you used is in the same class of the body. Same Class Bonus Damage will give additional 10% damage, as you can see in the picture in the “Combo Bonus Damage” the scarab curse is a bug card and the body is a bug so it dealt an additional 10% damage.
4. Effect Bonus Damage
Some card has an effect that deals additional damage when the condition is met. In this example below, Prickly will deal additional 20% damage if the axie with this card is the last to attack.
All types of bonus damage is applied in the example above.
These bonus damage are computed additively and rounded down.
